J. Duncan Stuart - Miles Legion

Does anyone have any knowledge of or can point me to references to a skirmish that took place on the Clinton Plank Road north of Baton Rouge on or about December 26th, 1862 between elements of Miles Legion cavalry companies and an unknown Federal force? I have tried the OR's and only been able to find a slim reference by Franklin Gardner about an action on Plank Road about Dec. 29, 1862. I am seeking information on James Duncan Stuart who commanded the 2nd company of Miles' Cavalry at that time. He is reported to have been killed in this action or died on December 26th, 1862 although his CMSR's indicate he was killed on Jan. 14th, 1862. Two different sources (the Adjt. Gen'l Report and Fortier's Sketches of Towns, etc.) give the date of death as Dec. 26, 1862 during a skirmish. J. Duncan Stuart was first buried on the field but later reinterred in his family plot in Magnolia Cemetery in Baton Rouge He would eventually have a street named after him in Baton Rouge, along with three other known heroes, Trevanion Dudley Lewis, Pierre St. Leon Gusman and Henry Watkins Allen. There may well be others as well that I am not aware of. Thanks,
Wayne Cosby
