John L Tippett, age 63 in 1870 is the father. (David was an error - I was working on a David Lee for another line of my family when you responded and this system doesn't send the previous message to match information) Sergent John Lee Tippit, Jr is the son and in one record he is documented as serving with Co D, 28 Louisiana Infantry that source only offers a start date of service, the places he fought at, and that he died in Franklin. If information about him isn't available in your source then I'll dig somewhere else.
