Perseverance guards

The obit of my relative Michael Connor/Conners states he was in the Perseverance guards to the end of the struggle. Also the Perseverance Fire Company 13 honored him at his New Orleans funeral in 1905. I understand from Bergeron's Confederate Units and his writings in the Louisiana History and Alabama Quarterly this would be Company A of the
22nd Louisiana Infantry made almost exclusively of firemen from Fire Company 13. A Michael Connor PVT of this regiment was present on rolls to February 1862. He was not listed as paroled at Vicksburg. What other references should I investigate to connect him to this infantry unit?
