Thomas M Scott 12th.Louisiana Infantry

It would appear that from time to time the compiled service records of soldiers are misfiled.

As an example Coopwood's Texas Spy Co. has a very important record of an ancestor that served in Captain Alf Johnson's Texas Spy Co.whch later became Co.E,Morgan's Texas cavalry regiment.

While researching the Texas record of a Captain Thomas M.Scott from Collin County,Texas who served early in the 9th.Texas Infantry and late in the war on General S.B.Maxey's staff, I came across the following 2 records for an entirely different Thomas M.Scott of Louisiana:

DeSoto,La.,July4th,1861

I hereby certify that I am in command of the Claiborne Rangers and that my command has been called into service by order of the Sec of War Confederate States of America and that one hundred and thirty men rank and file have this day been transported over the Vicksburg,Shreveport and Texas Rail Road from Monroe Station to DeSoto Station at the rate of per man.
