Re: Paul Hebert Co A 21st LA Inf, CSA

The two Paul Hebert's are not the same. Paul Hebert, whose headstone is in St. Louis Cemetery which is a Protestant Cemetery, is certainly not Joe Richard's ancestor as his family is and was always of the Catholic persuasion. Paul Augustine Hebert who was in the 28th and who was Joe Richard's ancestor is definitely buried off of Hwy 1111 near Roberts Cove. I have seen a photo of Joe's mother standing next to the headstone which is clearly marked. I have talked with Joe about his ancestor, whose headstone story we featured in the Attakapas Gazette which I co-edited. Dr. Russell Pavich, St. Landry Parish Coroner, is also this Paul Hebert's ancestor. Back to the mystery: who is the elusive Paul Hebert, listed as being in Co. A of the 21st? I would think if the family was specific enough to put a company designation on the tombstone, they most likely had the rest of the information correct. . .
