Ms Bedinghaus

According to his Confederate Service Record (CSR), James Calvin Zollicoffer was a member of the Ellis County Grays (Co E) of the 12th TX Cavalry. He apparently enlisted on 1 Jan 1863 and he died, probably of disease, near Monitcello, Arkansas in September of 1864. He is almost certainly buried in Drew County, somewhere near Monticello, which is southeastern Arkansas. No indication of burial site is shown, as is very common with Civil War Confederate burials.

I would suggest that you try contacting historical and genealogical associations in Drew County, and Monticello. Some local historian or genealogist may have information about Confederate camping sites or posts, military hospitals, military burying areas, etc. I believe there is a University branch in Monticello and there may be a history professor who might have information. Also try looking into Arkansas historical organizations, the Texas Adjutant General's office records (Parson's 12th TX and Co. E). You can also try the Arkansas and Texas CW messages boards, but I am assuming that you have already done this.

Finding Confederate burial sites is difficult, as many of we who seek ancestors have learned. Your best bet is probably the local (Monticello and Drew Cty) historical and genealogical sites and organizations.

Hope this helps
