Re: Hospital on shore of Lake Pontchartrain, Slide

Hi gentlemen,

I'm so sorry to have not replied to you sooner. Life has a habit of getting in the way of my research! I am still interested in any information you may have about the hospital.

Yes, I'm talking about Salt Bayou/road whick is between Old Spanish Trail and the lake. When I lived in Slidell 20 + years ago there is or was a landing on that little road where there is a small bridge on Old Spanish Trail where it crtosses Salt Bayou. Back then there was also a bar down that little road that had a "Chicken Drop", I didn't go there but I've heard about it!

So now we know where I'm talking about. The Civil War era hospital was supposedly along the northshore banks of Lake Pontchartrain, along the area where the present day twin-span Interstate-10 bridge is toward Slat Bayou's mouth and the Rigolets and the Rigolets Bridge where Fort Pike is located to the south.

My ex told me about it and as a Genealogist I love visiting, locating and learning about historic locations. Hopefully one day I'll find out more about it!

Thanks for any and all assistance!

Lisa
