It appears that James Leroy Talbert never did actually go off to war. From the information I get he apparently was mustered out on April 28, 1861 in New Orleans. Then there are all these company muster rolls showing him present at various times. One is very confusing as in the remarks section it states "Name appears on Column of "Rec'd payment of" as C.P. Talbert. I know that these were not the same man, but that C.P. was the nephew of James Leroy Talbert.
