I am trying to figure out something. I have an ancestor James Leroy Talbert of Caddo Parish, La. According to military records he was in the 1st Lousiana Infrantry in Co. A. He also had a nephew C. P. (Pink) Talbert in Co. A. What is confusing to me, I have some of the military records for James Leroy and some for Pink Talbert....however, I find that in some instances it states that C. P. Talbert had an alternate name....J. L. Talbert. There is no indication of James Leroy leaving the military, but he lived to be an old man on his plantation in Caddo Parish. C. P. listed only as Pink is some respects was killed in the Civil War.

Does anyone have any idea how I can sort this all out. Thank you...
