I found a J.G.Elliott in the 16MS.Inf.Which mustered at Corinth, MS.. Close to Itawamba CO.MS.. This Regiment didn't see action in the western campaigns but, it might be possible he was a POW sent to Vicksburg for exchange from the eastern campaigns.You might get his CSMR from this site.I checked Elliot surname in LA. regiments and I don't see a J.G.Elliott in any Regiment,Inf. CAV. ,Art..There was a Berry W. in the 28 LA.Inf. .you mentioned you thought Jacob might be a member.I enjoy helping a fellow Elliott!
