Jacob Golsten Elliott

I am looking for information about my 2x great grandfather Jacob Golsten Elliott who served in the Civil War. I was thinking that he might have served in Thomas' 28th Louisiana Volunteers but I do not know how to locate him. Maybe someone can help. Jacob was a Confederate soldier who fought at the Battle of Vicksburg. He was wounded in the battle and returned to his home in Monroe, LA and died of a fever shortly after. Jacob is buried in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. I cannot find his marker but his granddaughter has written that he is buried there.

Jacob married Lydia Ashley on April 2, 1856 in Itawamba, Miss. They had three children. Seleta Jane Elliott was born in 1857 in Miss., James G. Elliott was born in 1859 in Winn Parish, LA and Zadie Elliott was born on Dec. 22, 1861 in Monroe, LA.

Jacob was born around 1818 maybe in Kentucky of S.C. He was a farmer. In 1860 Jacob, of Winn Co, LA purchased land in Natchitoches, LA. He was part Cherokee. He probably died in 1863-64. Thank you for any help or any direction you can give me. Frances
