Maj. James B. Corkern

I am doing some research on Lt. James Bickham Corkern of the 4th Louisiana Infantry regiment and of the staff of Louisiana Brig. Gen. and Gov. Henry Watkins Allen. I would like to find his grave. He died on Oct. 26, 1878 of yellow fever in Winsboro, Louisiana. If anyone knows of any cemeteries in the Winsboro area that old where he may be buried, please let me know. According to the 1870 census of Franklin Parish, La., he was a lawyer. His wife's name was Juliette F. Thompson and they were married on Oct. 29, 1863. During the war he served in the Saint Helena Rifles of the 4th Louisiana. He then served on Gov. Allen's staff as Inspector General with the rank of major. He was also the leader of the Saint Helena Rifles detachment on the expedition that caputred the U.S.S. Indianola on Feb. 24, 1863. Any information about his possible burial site would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
