Re: Louisianians in CS Signal Corps

Fortunate timing on my part! Tks for the info and the knowledge that Albert has rcvd proper recognition for his service. I have his basic CSR info, but was unaware of other particulars, including post-war and death, for which I'm obliged. Capt. Youngblood's unit is known to me, but still a bit of a puzzle. Statutory restriction of total of ten "billets" or slots for signal corps captains, all of whom can be accounted for, excludes him, but is not the only such case. I tentatively believe that his commission was not in the signal corps per se, but that he had been overlooked back in Richmond and/or was "tolerated" as a captain assigned to signal duty. The capture of the station on Winters' plantation, Port Hudson, resulted in Alden's parole and subsequent re-capture.
