Battle of Irish Bend Captured Confederates

I would appreciate any assistance in locating records and photographs of Confederates captured at the Battle of Irish Bend, which occurred at Irish Bend of the Bayou Teche near Franklin, Louisiana, in St. Mary Parish. I am interested in finding source documents on the regiment of French-speaking enlistees from the sugar cane plantation area in St. Mary Parish and nearby. These men were from families which settled the area during the colonial French era, and farmed primarily sugar cane on plantations along the Bayou Teche. They were French speakers, literate, and mostly educated. They enlisted and fought in this battle actually defending land they owned along Bayou Teche. I am not an experienced researcher and so my finds on this subject have been hit and miss.

Especially of interest is a captured French-speaking Confederate soldier named Ovide Baptiste Doumange, spelled many different ways by Englilsh-speaking Union soldiers, including Dominger, Doumyne and similar. The only constant throughout is that the spelling always seems to make out the sounds "doo-mon-jay." The differences in spelling have made researching very difficult. I have found some summarized records of his capturer, and subsequent release, but no actual pictures of the source documents.

I would be willing to engage an experienced rersearcher to assist me.

Thank you.
