May 19, 1863, gunshot wound, fractured right arm, sent to Fort Delaware, arriving there from Fortress Monroe, Va. June 13, died July 25, 1863, Gastritis, buried on the Island, Block 5, Grave _______, [the following cards are notes between offices of the War Dept., Adjutant General's Office, ca June 1913

Card #11 of his file reads:

" . . . of the West" was destroyed and Capt. E. W. Fuller captured in Apr. 63 by Gen. Banks who reports Fuller as a great prise [sic] "King of the Swamp", long in the legislature, and at the head of the filibuster or/on? fighting element in the State (See page 303) ~ P. of W. records showing name as E. A. Fuller evidently a clerical error.

"Although from incomplete records, we cannot positively prove the Capt. of the Co. and the Capt.on the Stmr. were one and the same, yet it appears to be evidently the same man, detailed for special service ~ as indicated by the vacancy in the Co. and no other Capt. E. W. Fuller having been reported from La. on any records on file."

The C.S. records show E. W. Fuller was comed. Capt. of the "St. Martin Rangers" La. Cav. May 17/62 to date May 14/62. Co. appears to have been changed to Arty date not known.

Assigned to 16 Battn. La. inf. as Co. "D" in June '63; and in Nov. '63 assigned as Co. "H', Consol Crescent Regt. La. Inf. under Capt. E. T. King, formerly 1 Lt of the Co. and other officers promoted.

Union Reports in Office Rec. Series I, Vol. 15 show that the U. S. Stmr. "Queen of the West" was captured by the Confeds Feb. 14/63, and that Capt. E. W. Fuller was placed by Gen. Taylor in "command of the fleet," composed of that ship and some Gunboats. The "Queen . . . . " [continued on Card #11]
