I have a book called "Yankee Autumn in Acadiana" that mentions that the main Union camp in the Franklin La. area in early Jan. of 1864, was on the Carlin Plantation. A map in the same book shows that this Plantation was in the Irish Bend area East of Franklin. Directions from Franklin are : East on 323(Irish Bend Rd.)-323 turns north in the area of Belleview Country Club. The Union Camp was in the area north of the Country Club. Oaklawn Manor, north of the Union camp, is open for public tours. People there might be able to answer questions about Union Camps in the area
