The Anderson may be Thomas Scott Anderson of Texas, who's in my "Confederate Colonels" book. I've never seen him referred to as "Black Jack", but he was at Mansfield in 1864. Or Major Joseph Anderson of Dawson's Arkansas Infantry. A Thomas Taylor of Kentucky (see "Generals in Gray") served at Vicksburg as a staff officer, but I've never heard of him being in Mansfield.
