Here's some information on Company I (Calcasieu Rangers), 6th Louisiana Cavalry

6th Regiment, Louisiana Cavalry

6th Cavalry Regiment was assembled near Minden, Louisiana, in January, 1864. The unit was assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Department and saw light action in Louisiana. Later it operated a courier-line between Camden, Arkansas and Alexandria, Louisiana. In March, 1865, the regiment was patrolling along the west bank of the Mississippi River, then disbanded. The regiment was first organized in the Trans-Mississippi Department during the winter of 1863-64, as Harrison's Battalion Louisiana Cavalry. It was later increased to a regiment by the addition of unattached companies and designated the 6th Regiment Louisiana Cavalry

The only muster roll for the Company is for the period Feb. 20, 1864 to ______ (Dated Feb. 20, 1864) where they were stationed at Alexandria

Captain Ivey was among those surrendered by General E. Kirby Smith and paroled June 22, 1865 at Shreveport, La.
