I spoke to Mary Linn Wernet, the archivist at NSULA, early last week about flags and she indicated that they have two flags given to the Cammie G Henry Research Center collection by the Breazeale descendents. My impression was that they were 3rd LA Infantry flags, but Mary did in deed say "Breazeale's Battalion," so I will have to double check since Breazeale's Battalion would indicate the Partisan Ranger group started in the summer of 1862. I hope to have the opportunity to visit there in the very near future.
As you know, Winter Wood Breazeale was Capt of Co G of the 3rd LA Infantry until he resigned on Sept 24, 1861, after Oak Hills or Wilson's Creek. I am not clear whether WW Breazeale was at Oak Hill/Wilson's Creek on August 10 or not - does anyone know the answer to this last question for sure?
Thanks for your information
