Mansfield Monument dedication

Compatriots,

For those of you that attended the monument dedication on Saturday, April 10th at Mansfield, my sincere appreciation.
For those of you that did not, you missed a once in a lifetime event. I encourage you to visit the battle park and see the monument for yourself. I have sent pictures to the Confederate Veteran. It is a beautiful site.

Steve Bounds, park manager, told me there were 354 in attendance. As we did not have a "sign in sheet" it is impossible to recognize all camp represented, but we had members from across Louisiana and Texas, as well as UDC ladies from Louisiana and Texas. Members from the OCR were present as well as many reenactment groups. it was truly a fine day to celebrate Southern Heritage.

Congratulations to Taylor Camp Commander Bobby Herring who spearheaded this project from beginning to end. His hard work and dedication has paid off. The Sons of Louisiana who fought and died at Mansfield are forever memorialized.

Thanks to the many camp members who donated to this cause through the optional giving feature of the MRS and individuals who made private donations. A special thanks goes out also to the ladies of the UDC who donated to this project.

Lest We Forget

David Hill
2nd Lt. Commander
