Dandridge McRae

In the book Brothers in Gray: The Civil War Letters of the Pierson Family by Thomas Cutrer and Michael Parrish, one dated
March 26, 1865 states that "The celebrated Colonel McRae left here a few days ago for Natchitoches where he is to be tried."

Colonel McRae was Dandridge McRae (who was actually a general). He already had his trial clearing his name from General Holmes throwing him under the bus after the Helena debacle. Does anybody have any insight as to what he was being tried for???
