According to published maps, Camp Bisland is on a bend of Bayou Teche, about 7-8 miles west of Patterson, LA - 1.5 to 2 miles west of the Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport. There are a couple of useful maps in the recent (2009) Donald S. Frasier book - "Fire in the Cane Field" (see pages 48, 104, 207, 211) which you might find useful. According to the information in Andrew Booth's compendium of Louisiana Confederate soldiers, he died on January 28, 1863.

Your ancestor (D F Adams) was in Co E of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry along with 7 members of my family. Approximately January 8 or 9 he was detailed at the plantation of Mr Yatt Moye near Centerville to tend to two members of Co E who had become severely ill, J S Furman and J C Sibley. At some time after January 18, 1863 he also became violently ill, possibly with diphtheria as Furman was believed to have diphtheria. Late in January (28th?), both J A Furman and D F Adams passed away.

Although I do not know the location, Adams and Furman were probably buried in an area near Camp Bisland. A second possiblity is that he may have been buried at a church cemetery (Catholic?) near the Moye plantation.

I hope this helps. There are many more knowledgeable participants on this message board who can give you more specific information about Camp Bisland and where a camp cemetery might have been located.
