William McGee appointed Chaplain October 28,1864 to report to the Lynchburg, Virginia General Hospital, surrendered along with the men under his charge at General Hospital No. 1, April 9, 1865, "The within-named will not be disturbed by United States authorities, so long as they observe their parole and the laws in force where they may reside" [There are a number of handwritten documents re his request to be enrolled as a Chaplain in Confederate service, along with endorsements, too difficult to read on line]
