I recently visited the campus of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, which served as a hospital during the Civil War, and presumably was the cited college hospital where Davis was posted. It also served French soldiers who were wounded at the siege of Yorktown during the Revolutionary War, as noted on a plaque at the historic Wren Hall on campus.
