You may be thinking of Camp Stonewall. Dick Taylor ordered its establishment in late May 1863 to prevent any Union gunboats from coming back up the Red River. Sources indicate that it was at Choctaw Bayou near Osborn's plantation, about nine miles below Alexandria. Four batteries and two infantry companies, acting as sharpshooters, occupied the camp. It was pretty well abandoned by the end of June.
