Captain E.J. Hall

I am looking for information on Captain E.J. Hall, with the 1st Regiment, Louisiana Calvary.
He was born in 1836 in S.C., but was living in La. at the time of the Civil War. He is listed on the 1880 census for Bozzier Parish, as a Physician. Do you know of the battles that the 1st La. Calvary participated in. Some records state that he was in "The Immortal 600" but escaped.
Thanks for any information.
