1865 Red River Campaign plans?

At a presentation this afternoon by a well-known history professor, the speaker said that Forts Randolph and Buhlow were built to defend the Red River area from another invasion in 1865. He indicated that an 1865 invasion was planned. I have never heard of any plans for an incursion into the Red River valley in 1865. (There was no reason for such a move, as the war's approaching end was obvious, and besides, there was nothing left for the US forces to come after.) Have I missed something, or did the North have plans for an 1865 move up Red River had the war not ended?
