I edited the memoirs of William J. Seymour of Hays' Brigade and Campbell Brown of Ewell's staff and both give a little information on this time period. See The Civil War Memoirs of Capt. William J. Seymour (LSU Press, 1991) and Campbell Brown's Civil War (LSU Press, 2001). Don't overlook Brown's diary entries at the end of the book.
