Mr. Johnson:

I offer to you the following article entitled "Fort Jackson and the Defense of New Orleans." In appears the reason for mutiny was very much a mystery by both the Union and the Confederate leaders. The Union leaders belived it was the superior bombardment of the fort that caused the mutiny The Confederates leaders believed it was because the Confederate forces were mostly immigrants.
