Am trying to find out the identity of one Assistant Surgeon Blanchard, who served aboard CSS Queen of the West during the sinking of USS Indianola. He may have been a military surgeon, or was possibly a civilian volunteer who ended up as a member of the expedition. Anyone know of any doctors in Louisiana named Blanchard, particularly from the Rapides area, from that time period? There were Blanchards from that area at the time, but would appreciate any input as to whether any of them were doctors.
