The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Re: LA's Last Surviving Civ War Vet

I would like to know where this John Townsend is and if he is a child of Mr Townsend, I had no information about. I have very little data on his heirs of his wives, but I do have proof William (aka Daniel) Townsend was and is and was (since deceased in 1953) Louisiana's last surviving civil war veteran. To recheck these matters just check out Terry Scribers book The 27th LA Infantry page 297. Again I also have some articles, pics of him from his time and my mother and her mothers testimonies about him. My oldest brother knew him personally from a young age and would hear him tell his civil war stories. Got to go now. Lloyd
