Re: Consolidated Crescent Regiment

You may also want to look at the book, "A Louisiana Confederate, The Diary of Felix Pierre Poche," ed. Ed Bearss. He was a civilian attached to the 18th regiment, part of the same brigade the Consolidated was in. He mentions the Crescent frequently and gives some insight into the terrible living conditions the soldiers faced especially in the winter of 63-64. With a little reading between the lines, you can follow the Consolidated's travel.

The other regiment in Mouton's/Gray's Brigade with the Consolidated was the 28th. There is a diary available by one of it's soldiers, "No Pardons to Ask, Nor Apologies to Make," ed. Gary and Marilyn Joiner. I haven't read it yet but I would guess there would be frequent mention of the Consolidated.

The following is a link to a letter from my GGGrandfather to his wife written the day before the Battle of Mansfield. He was in Co G of the Consolidated. http://home.comcast.net/~clord001/site/?/page/Stephen_Lord%27s_Last_Letter_Home/
