My gg uncle, Frederick A Hamm, served in Wheat's Battallion during the Civil War. He ended up back in New Orleans in the late 1880's and was also very poor and died in Charity Hospital in 1901. He was buried by the Fireman's Charitable Benevolent Assn of New Orleans and placed in the Soliders Home Tomb located in Greenwood Cemetery. You might write them at Greenwood Cemetery, 5242 CanalBoulevard, New Orleans La 70124. I was able to even find the tomb and vault on a trip in 2005. Hope this helps you,

Jim Hamm
