Art, I have your book: Guide To Louisiana Confederate Militay Units, and I have been trying to find more information on the 13th LA Cav Bttn (Claiborne Partisen Rangers).
My grand uncle, James Robertson Monk was a Sgt in the 13th Cav Bttn and in a report he wrote several years after the war for A History of Claiborne Parish, he stated that he had been "elected" to 1st Lt. There is no record of that in Booth's or Broadfoot, but since he was at that time a lawyer I would think he knew better than to make false claims. Could that have been possible?
