I doubt if this is your relative. This guy must be a staff officer and he says that he is in a battalion not cavalry unit. He was also in Florida before shipping to Va. in June 1861. I still think he is with Rightor's men but I cant match Cornelius name with anyone from that Battalion. He seens well educated and wealthy since he is horseback riding with the Chaulk's family's daughter and staying with them.I dont have anything on Miss Louisa Campbell, other than her parents are running the Campbell and Strong Mercantile in New Orleans. Cant find a marriage for her and New Orleans fell so early in the war and the mail was cut-off, so findind another letter or cover isnt likely. I would still like to know if staying with a family instead of staying with the soldiers in camp if this guy is privileged. He must be a high ranking officer.I may check and see whom the Chaulk's daughter married in Va.
