Re: Captain Frank Moore, 5th Louisiana Infantry

Matthew, I have a short story on Frank Moore in my book "Lee's Tigers" (p. 180). On Sept. 16, 1863, Moore slipped 2 companies of the 5th and 9th Louisiana across the Rapidan River at Raccoon Ford and surprised the 5th New York. Several Yankees were killed, including their commanding officer, and 42 captured. The Yankees accused Moore's men of murdering their commander after he was captured, but the Tigers claimed he was killed when he fired on them after being told to surrender.
