Unfortunately, I could not find but one of the 8th La. men from Brazil. I don't have a database by place of origin yet but maybe this will prompt me to do so. If I find the other one, I will send the information. OK? Thanks

Lacoste, Bernard Henry, Private

Henry Lacoste was a 17-year-old native of Rio de Janiero, Brazil and worked as a clerk in St. Martinville when he chose to enlist in the Regiment at Camp Moore on June 19th, 1861. He was single at the time. Henry was discharged at Camp Reserve, VA on Nov. 6th, 1861 for having tuberculosis. He reenlisted and was discharged again on Feb. 4th, 1863 at Lynchburg for having heart disease. Henry came home to St. Martinville and married Zulma Boudreaux on May 31st, 1869 at Bayou Delarge, LA. He worked as an engineer the rest of his life and died on Oct. 16th, 1892 at Little Caillou, LA. Henry is buried in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Little Caillou, LA.
