George, Thank you for responding. Do you know if there is somewhere I can look to find out if he was in the Civil War? His first child was born in 1861 and his second child was born in 1866, so I put a note that he was possibly in the Cival War at this time but have been unable to locate a record. Between 1880 and 1900 he moved from Adair, Kentucky to Texas. I tried Ancestry.com, but I didn't see him there under Military records. Thank you again for taking the time to read this. Megan
