Hi all -

am researching an ancestor (Samuel Demaree) who is listed as being in Co. C, 4th Kentucky Cavalry CSA. He was captured (surrendered?) at Buffington Ohio on July 19, 1863. His CSR docs indicate that he was initially imprisoned at Cincinnati before being transferred to Camp Chase. An Oct. 3, 1864 doc indicates his release from Camp Chase and describes him as being from Henry Co. KY.

I am confused; were men in the 4th KY Cavalry actually with Morgan during his Ohio raid? I was under the impression that the 4th KY Cav. was primarily in SW VA. Also, were men from Henry Co. KY in the 4th KY Cav.??? Is this odd to other folks or am I just missing something here?

Any and all help, suggestions, expertise re this puzzle is VERY greatly appreciated!!!!
