Re: 1st and 2nd Kentucky Battalions

This is all I can find in the OR for June, 1861

1st KY Infantry Battalion
Organized: on 4/1/61 Mustered Out: 8/7/61 at Manassas

Junction, VA
Bartow’s Brigade June/July, 1861

Col. F. S. Bartow, 2nd Brigade, ’s BGen. Joseph E. Johnston’s Division, or Army of the Shenandoah, June 30, 1861
Duncan’s Kentucky Battalion
Pope’s Kentucky Battalion

HARPER'S FERRY, VA., May 21, 1861.
Colonel R. S. GARNETT,

Adjutant-General, Richmond, Va.:

SIR: The force now assembled at this place and its outposts consists of the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Virginia Regiments; the Fourth Regiment from Alabama; two regiments from Mississippi; five companies of Virginia Artillery; eight companies of Virginia Cavalry; four companies of Kentucky Infantry, and . . . .

I have not yet visited the Maryland Heights, where redobouts are now going up; but, from frequent conversation which I have had with Lieutenant-Colonel Duncan, the officer in charge of the work, I am convinced that but little more is necessary to render that part of the ground quite secure. . . .

GEO. DEAS,
Lieutenant-Colonel and Inspector-General, C. S. Army.
