Captain Corbin’s Men, Kentucky

This command appears to have consisted of about 148 men who had been recruited in Kentucky between July 3 and 29, 1862, by Marion Corbin, who was a 1st Lieutenant CompanyB, 1st Battalion, Kentucky Cavalry. Corbin and about 113 of his men were captuered July 29, 1862 at Mt. Sterling, while on their way to Virginia. Tehy appear to have been released about December 8, 1862 near Vicksburg, Miss., but no evidence has been found to show they ever joined the organization for which they had been recruited - the 1st Battalion Ky. Cav. A number however appears to have subsequently served in Company B, Jessie’s Battalion, Kentucky Mounted Rifemen, composed of Independent Companies.

No muster rolls of this command have been found.
