The 2nd KY Cavalry of Armstrong's Brigade has no relation to the 2nd KY Cavalry raised by John Hunt Morgan. The regiment you seek is the one raised in January 1863 by Col. Thomas Woodward and was renumbered as the 15th KY Cavalry. His two antecedent cavalry commands were Woodward's KY Battalion (July 1862-December 1862) and the Oak Grove Rangers battalion of Helm's 1st KY Cavalry (May 1861-JUne 1862)

We in Clarksville know Woodward well as he helped recapture the town form the Federals in August 1862 with Adam Rankin Johnson.

Sadly, he wrote no reports that can be found in the Official Records which hinders our understanding of his operations in our area and other areas for that matter. His commands moved in and out of Forrest's command during the war.
