Have you tried contacting the Tilghman house at Paducah to see if they have any papers concerning the date you are interested in? They had some papers and letters, but it's been years since I've been there, and I never read them entirely then.

Or perhaps the Railroad that Tilghman was employed by (prior to his service) may have some records for this date.
