Guerilla Activity in Western Kentucky

Does anyone have information regading guerilla activity in western Kentucky, particularly around the Tennessee River and the area known then as "The Land Between the Rivers"? There are several guerillas buried in Haynes Cemetery, which overlooks what is now Kentucky Lake but was the Tennessee before the Kentucky Dam was built in the early 1940's. These bodies were moved by the TVA from what was known as the "Guerilla Graveyard" that was in the little town of Newburgh that was on the Tennessee, but is now under water. I've tried to do research but there were so many guerilla incidents in that part of the country, I can pin nothing down. I don't know if they were Union or Confederate. Probably just outlaws. The legend is that a group of Calloway County citizens ambushed them as they crossed the Tennessee at Newburgh, and threw them all into a common grave. But.....I don't know what is legend and what is fact. Any information would be appreciated.
