Searching for letters, journals, and other personal documents referencing the life and military service of Solomon Starks, who served as a private in Company F of the 108th U.S. Colored Infantry. Born in Nelson County, Kentucky, he lived in Moline, Illinois, at his enlistment in 1864. After the war he became a Buffalo Soldier, serving in Company I of the Ninth U.S. Cavalry.
