Kendrick Allen, Buffalo Soldier

Searching for letters, journals, and other personal documents referencing the life and military service of Kendrick Allen. Born in Anderson County, Kentucky, about 1847, he served with the 108th U.S. Colored Infantry during the Civil War. In 1871, he joined the regular army as an enlisted man in the Twenty-fourth U.S. Infantry, one of the "Buffalo Soldier" regiments. In 1881 he transferred to the Ninth U.S. Cavalry. He retired from the army in 1897 as a sergeant. I am especially interested in learning his date of death and any information about his family. Any and all help appreciated.
