Pvt. William Wright, 114th U.S. Colored Infantry

Searching for letters, journals, and other personal documents referencing the life and military service of William Wright, who served as a private in Company H of the 114th U.S. Colored Infantry. Wright enlisted in the army at Camp Nelson, Kentucky, in 1864. The 114th was one of four African American regiments to witness the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia by Gen. Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, on April 9, 1865. (The others were the 109th, 116th and 117th.)
