I do not believe he was "killed." Based on Guerrant's diary they were not at the time involved in engagements with the enemy.

Here are locations that I have been able to find at the time:

Henry T. Overby, Co. A, died on 2/25/1862 at Gladesville, VA
The Battalion was at Pound Gap on the Ky/SW Va border March 19, 1862
Major Benjamin Bradley took over command during this period.
At Osborne's Ford March 21, 1862
Thomas M. Blaves Co. A, died on 4/6/1862 at Holston Springs, VA
