4th Regiment, Kentucky Mounted Infantry

I don't know much about the Civil War and the different outfits. I have a family book that says my Great-grand- father Albert C. Thomas and his brother Albert D. from Trigg Co. KY, had long service in the Confederate Army- I assume both were in the 4th. At this site http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.cfm it list Alfred C also as Albert C, so that must be a mistake. The site says about the 4th " Later it was assigned to Hanson's, Helm's, and J.H. Lewis' Brigade, Army of Tennessee." Anyone know what TN outfit that would be so maybe I can look it up?

Also in the family book it says that their father's cousin, Dr. Albert Thomas (born 1822) from Trigg Co was an assistant surgeon for the Union Army. He graduated from Lousiville, class of 1848 and practiced at Staker Iron Works ( maybe Trigg Co??) for 5 years. Then he practiced at Canton and Golden Pond, KY both in Trigg co.
