Civil War Exhibit Now Open

Now Open At The Lincoln Museum, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Bleeding Blue and Gray: Civil War Medicine!

The Friends of The Lincoln Museum and Dupont Hospital invite you to discover Bleeding Blue and Gray: Civil War Medicine now open at The Lincoln Museum through September 23, 2007!

The highly visual exhibition is educational as well as exciting. It’s jam-packed with Civil War artifacts….many are from the Museum’s vast collection and have never been displayed. Young visitors will enjoy interactives throughout the exhibition.

The firing on Fort Sumter, April 12, 1861, found both North and South ill-prepared for war. Chaos reigned on the battlefield and in the medical tent. The appalling lack of medical training, supplies, and personnel contributed to the death of approximately 620,000 soldiers from battlefield injuries and diseases during the Civil War.

Follow the story of the sick and wounded soldiers and those who cared for them. This exhibit presents the year-by-year story of military and medical triumphs and failures.

The Lincoln Museum is located at the corner of Clinton and Berry Streets in downtown Fort Wayne.
